A Guide for Expecting Parents

WARNING SIGNALS OF PREGNANCY

If any of the following symptoms occur, you may wait until office hours to notify your doctor, but do not wait more than 6–12 hours:

• Sudden or excessive swelling of the face, hands, and feet
• Painful or burning urination
• Fever of higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit
• Chilling
• Vaginal discharge that is irritating
• Frequent dizzy spells

 

DANGER SIGNALS OF PREGNANCY

If any of the following symptoms occur, you should notify us IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait for office hours:

• Marked decrease in fetal movement
• Vaginal bleeding like a period or heavier
• Loss of fluid from the vagina
• Severe prolonged abdominal pain
• Severe, persistent headache
• Disturbances of vision such as dimness, blurring, or flashes of light
• Severe, persistent vomiting
